Born near Muncy, Pennsylvania, October 22, 1858. He was educated in the public schools of Lycoming, Pennsylvania, and attended a private Normal school in the same town. He also attended the Penn State Normal at Millersville, and the Central State Normal at Lock Haven, where he graduated in 1882. He came to Iowa in 1883 and studied in the law department of the State University where he graduated in 1881 with the degree of L.L.B., and was admitted to the bar. He came to Parkersburg in 1885 and began the practice of law. He was elected to the position of Judge of the 12th judicial district in 1912 and for twenty eight years, until his retirement in 1940, he filled this position with honor and distinction. Judge Edwards served as a member of the lower house of the Iowa General Assembly during the 28th and 29th sessions. He was mayor of Parkersburg, as served as town clerk also a member of the board of education. He was united in marriage July 21, 1887, to Ida Whiting of Parkersburg. He united with the Methodist Church in Parkersburg in 1895.
