Born at Delhi, Delaware County, Iowa, on October 13, 1848. He married Miss Laura R. Annis September 7, 1874. Mr. Eaton’s education was in the public schools of his native town, with a course at the State University, where he graduated from the law department in the class of 1872, and was then engaged in the practice of law. He was a member of the Methodist church and belonged to the Masonic order, including the Blue, Chapter, Commandery and Shriner degrees. In politics he has always been a republican and his party honored him with the offices of mayor of Osage, which office he held three years, president of the school board, and county attorney of Mitchell County. Mr. Eaton also served in the Twenty-seventh, Twenty-eighth, and Twenty-ninth Iowa General Assemblies representing Mitchell County.
