Born January 21, 1870, in Henry County, Illinois. He began the practice of medicine in Nevinville and upon retiring from active practice made his home in Fontanelle. He served in World War I and was the oldest Legionnaire in Iowa. He married Mary Ellen Griffin December 14, 1911, in Fontanelle. He represented Adams County in the Thirty and Thirty-first Iowa General Assemblies, 1904, 1906. He was a member of the Congregational Church.
