Born in Sidney, Fremont County, Iowa, March 16, 1856. He lived on a farm until fifteen years of age, since which time he has been in business in Shenandoah, either as salesman or bookkeeper. He was married June 2, 1880, to Miss Nina Nixon, a native of Virginia. He was elected in 1903 to the state legislature from this county and served his constituents well. Mr. Crose was secretary of the school board, and a member of the I. O. O. F., the A. O. U. W. and other secret organizations of high standing. He was a member of the Congregational Church.
