A native of Indiana, he was born in Park County on November 17, 1839. The life work of William Cobb has been far-reaching and beneficial in its effects. He has been closely affiliated with the material, political and moral progress of the community and is equally well known as a business man, farmer, legislator, and likewise devoting much time to the ministry. On November 5, 1859, he was united in marriage to Miss Malinda AgIer. William Cobb was elected and served four years as county treasurer, from January, 1892, to January, 1896. He proved an honest and efficient officer and retired from office with honor and respect. In 1903 he was .elected to represent his district in the state legislature and proved an able working member of that body. Mr. Cobb was an honored member of the I. O. O. F. Lodge. In religious life Mr. Cobb was affiliated with the Church of Christ.
