Representative from Madison county. Born in Fairfield county, Ohio, of German parents. In 1855 he came with his parents to Madison county, Iowa, where he has since made his home. He was married to Lavina C. Travis March 10, 1875; has four sons and one daughter. Received his education in district schools and out of books at home. Has followed the occupation of farming. Has held various offices. Elected township assessor in 1876, which he held six years. He held the offices of township clerk and township trustee for a number of years. Was district township school treasurer thirteen years. Elected Representative in 1906. A Democrat in politics.
