He attended the rural schools, afterwards attended an academy for a few terms and received a business course at the Northern Business College, at that time located at Garner, Iowa. He early engaged in the work of farming and has followed that occupation ever since. Elected Representative in 1903 and re-elected in 1906. Served during the Thirtieth, Thirty-first and Thirty-second General Assemblies. A Republican in politics.
