He has continued to live in this vicinity since his birth and was educated in the St. Ansgar public schools; also the St. Ansgar Seminary and Institute. Has followed various occupations since early manhood. Began as a farmer and stock buyer and in 1895 engaged in the lumber and coal business, in which he is still engaged; also in the grain business. Was married to Mamie S. Brown in 1894, has two daughters and one son. Has served as mayor, alderman, township trustee and was a member of the board of supervisors for two terms, resigning this to accept the office of Representative. Elected Representative in 1903 and re-elected in 1906, serving during the Thirtieth, Thirty-first and Thirty-second General Assemblies. A Republican in politics.
