Representative from Davis county. Born in Davis county, Iowa. His parents were American-born. He received a common school education in the schools of his home neighborhood and afterwards attended the Normal School at Bloomfield, Iowa, graduating from that institution in 1898. He then entered the teacher's profession for one year, leaving it at the end of that time to enter Drake University at Des Moines, from which school he graduated in 1902. He has been engaged either as principal or superintendent of schools at West Grove, Davis county; Indianapolis, Mahaska county; Batavia, Jefferson county, and Mystic, Appanoose county. At present he is attending the law school of Drake University. Elected a Representative in the Thirty-first General Assembly to fill the vacancy occasioned by the death of the Hon. T. J. Prevo; re-elected to the Thirty-second General Assembly in 1906. A Democrat in politics.
