Representative from Crawford county, was born in Germany October 15, 1854, where he attended school until he was fifteen years of age. Emigrated to this country in 1870 and until 1878 was engaged in farming in Illinois and attending rural and private (evening) schools. In 1878 he moved to Iowa, locating in Crawford county. In the fall of 1896 was elected township clerk and was reelected in 1898. In 1900 was elected member of the board of supervisors and was re-elected in 1903. Elected Representative in 1906, and re-elected in 1908. A Democrat in politics.
