Senator from the Third District, composed of the counties of Appanoose and Davis, was born in Hart county, Kentucky. His father was born in North Carolina and his mother in Virginia, each coming to Kentucky with their parents in early childhood. His parents came to Iowa in 1849, locating in Appanoose county, where Mr. Taylor has since resided. He acquired his education in the common and graded schools. Was married to Miss Miriam Siler in 1864; to this union two children, a son and daughter, were born. Resided on a farm until 1879, during which time he followed the occupations of farming and teaching school. He moved to Centerville in 1879, where he has since resided. Has held the offices of township clerk, assessor, justice of the peace, and was secretary of the school board fifteen consecutive years. Also held the office of clerk of the court of Appanoose county four consecutive terms. He has been connected with the First National Bank of Centerville and the State Savings Bank of Unionville, Iowa, for a number of years. Elected Senator in 1903 and re-elected in 1908. A Democrat in politics.

His parents came to Iowa in 1849, locating in Appanoose county, where he has since resided. Acquired his education in the common and graded schools. Was married to Miss Miram Siler in the year of 1864; to this union two children, a son and daughter, were born. Resided on a farm until 1879, during which time he followed the occupation of farming and teaching school. Then moved to Centerville where he has since resided. Has held the offices of Township Clerk, Assessor, Justice of the Peace, and was Secretary of the School Board fifteen consecutive years. Also held the office of Clerk of the Courts of Appanoose county four consecutive terms. Was connected with the First National Bank of Centerville, Iowa, for a number of years. Elected Senator in 1903 and served during the Thirtieth, Thirty-first, Thirty-second and Thirty-second extra General Assemblies. Re-elected in 1908. A Democrat in politics.
