Senator from the Forty-third District, composed of the counties of Cerro Gordo, Franklin and Hancock, was born at Linden, Iowa county, Wisconsin, October 14, 1875. His mother was born in England, and his father in Iowa county, Wisconsin, both being of English descent. Attended the common schools of Iowa county, Wisconsin, until 1889, when he moved with his parents near Britt, Hancock county, Iowa. After coming to Iowa, attended the Britt public schools, graduating from the high school at Britt in 1895. Entered the Law Department of the State University of Iowa in the fall of 1895, graduating therefrom in June, 1897. After graduation engaged in the practice of law at Britt, Iowa. Elected County Attorney in the fall of 1902, serving two terms. Elected Senator in 1908. A Republican in politics.
