Senator from the Twenty-fourth District, composed of Cedar and Jones counties, was born at Monticello, Jones county, Iowa, January 30, 1873. His parents were both born in the United States, his father being of English and his mother of German descent. He graduated from the Monticello high school, attended Cornell college and received the degree of M. D. from the State University of Iowa. After graduation he located at Bennett, Cedar county, Iowa, and engaged in the practice of medicine. Was twice elected mayor of that place. Later moved to Durant, Cedar county, where he engaged in the drug business and the practice of medicine jointly. Elected mayor of Durant in 1908, from which office he resigned upon election to the Senate in 1908, and later returned to his former location at Bennett, Iowa. A Republican in politics.
