Representative from Marshall county, was born June 14, 1874, near Union, Hardin county, Iowa. Both of his parents were born in the state of Ohio. He with his parents, moved to Marshall county in 1876, which county has since been his home. He attended rural school, the Marshalltown high school and was a student for nine months in a business college. He was also a student in the College of Law of Drake University and was admitted to the bar in 1899. He has since practiced his profession at Marshalltown. He served the house and senate as an officer during several general assemblies prior to being elected representative. He served four years as clerk of the district court of Marshall county. Has represented his party as a member of the county central committee and as a delegate to state and judicial conventions. Married Miss Nellie E. Stewart of Marshalltown, Iowa, June 27, 1912. Elected representative in 1910. Re-elected in 1912. A republican in politics.

Was a committee clerk in the House of Representatives in the Twenty-sixth General Assembly, a journal clerk in the House of the Twenty-seventh and of the Senate in the Twenty-eighth and was assistant secretary of the Senate in the Twenty-ninth General Assembly. Served four years as clerk of the district court of Marshall county. Has taken considerable interest in politics and has represented his party as a member of the county central committee and as a delegate to state and judicial conventions. Elected Representative in 1910. A Republican in politics.
