Senator from the Thirtieth district, comprising Polk county, was born at Afton, Iowa, December 9, 1869. He attended the public schools, St. Benedict's College, at Atchison, Kansas, and in 1891 graduated from Notre Dame University. He also attended the law college of the University of Iowa and was admitted to practice in 1894. He was elected city solicitor of Creston in 1895 and county attorney of Union county in 1896. He moved to Des Moines in 1899. Was a member of the house of representatives from Polk county in the thirty-second and thirty-third general assemblies. Elected senator in 1910. A republican in politics.

His early education was obtained at the Afton schools, later he attended St. Benedict's College at Atchison, Kansas and Notre Dame University, where he graduated from the collegiate department in the class of 1891. In 1892 entered the law department of the State University of Iowa, and was graduated and admitted to practice in 1894. Immediately located at Creston and commenced the practice of his profession. In 1895 was elected city solicitor of the city of Creston and in 1896 county attorney of Union county. Removed to Des Moines in 1899 where he has since been engaged in the practice of law. Elected Representative in 1906 and re-elected in 1908. A Republican in politics.
