Moved with parents to Stuart, Iowa, in spring of 1874, to Dexter, Iowa, in 1880, and again to Stuart in 1885. Attended the schools of Stuart and Dexter, also attended Iowa College. Grinnell, Iowa, from fall of 1887 until spring of 1891. Located in Adair in 1893, where he has since resided. Was married to Miss Maude Smull of Stuart, October 31, 1894. Was school treasurer of Adair for twelve years. Elected senator in 1908. Re-elected in 1912. A republican in politics.
