Senator from the Twenty-sixth district, composed of Linn county, was born in McGregor, Iowa, in 1876, of Scotch-Irish ancestry. Was educated in the public schools and later attended Cornell College, where he graduated in 1900. He also attended the law school of the University of Iowa and graduated in 1903. Entered the practice of law in Cedar Rapids, and still continues to practice there in the firm of Heald & Lockwood. Is a member of a number of fraternal orders. Is married. Elected senator in 1912. A republican in politics.
