Steck of Ottumwa, Iowa, and admitted to practice by the supreme court of Iowa, May 25, 1895. Elected county attorney of Monroe county in 1896 and re-elected in 1898. Elected senator in 1908. Re-elected in 1912. A democrat in politics.
