Senator from the forty-fourth district composed of the counties of Chickasaw and Floyd. Was born November 3, 1878, on a farm one and a half miles from New Hampton, Iowa. His mother, formerly Ruth H. Stubbins, was born in England, while his father, Jerry Tyler Jackson, is of Irish-Holland descent. He attended the district school and later the New Hampton high school, graduating from the latter in 1894. He followed farming for two years after which he became associated with the Citizens Bank of Britt becoming assistant cashier. In 1900 he organized the Farmers & Merchants Bank at Floyd, of which he was cashier. In 1910 the above bank was reorganized into the First National Bank, he becoming president which office he now holds. He moved from Floyd to Charles City in 1912. Incorporated the Corn Belt Land & Investment Co., of Charles City, Iowa, in 1911, having been president thereof since. Was town clerk of Floyd from 1902 to 1906 and mayor of Floyd from 1906 to 1912. Was chairman of the Floyd County Republican Central Committee from 1908 to 1912. Elected senator in 1914. A republican in politics.
