Senator from the twenty-first district, comprising the county of Scott, was born in Albion, New York, on the 10th day of June, 1864, of German parents. Moved to Davenport, Iowa, in 1875; where he attended the public schools. After graduating from the grammar school entered into commercial life, and after an experience in various lines which took him away from Davenport and away from Iowa for a number of years, returned to Davenport in 1895, and was one of the incorporators of the Davenport Furniture & Carpet Company, which later became, and now is the Iowa Furniture & Carpet Company, of which he is vice-president and director. Is a member and director of the Davenport Commercial club, also a member of the Greater Committee of 30, and a member of various social clubs. Was married in 1897 to Miss Laura Dean. Was elected to the senate in 1914. Republican in politics.
