Was graduated in 1897 from Rolfe, Iowa, high school; attended the State University of Iowa and was graduated from the law department in 1904. Located in Red Oak, Iowa, in 1904, and engaged in the practice of law. In 1906 was elected county attorney of Montgomery county and held that office for eight years. Was married in 1909 to May L. Wright of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Is a member of the school board of Red Oak, Iowa; a director in, and treasurer of the Mutual Life Association of Iowa; a director in the Red Oak Building and Savings Association. Is a member of the Presbyterian church. Is a Knights Templar, Odd Fellow and Knight of Pythias. Elected senator in 1916. A republican in politics.
