Attended Iowa State College, where he graduated in 1889. Also attended the university of Michigan where he graduated in 1895. Married Miss Carroll Williams in 1895. Served as assistant county attorney for Pottawattamie county from 1899 to 1903, and as city solicitor for the city of Council Bluffs from 1906 to 1912. Is a member of the Masonic order, the Knights of Pythias and of the Council Bluffs Rowing Association. Elected senator in 1912. Re-elected in 1916. A republican in politics.
