Representative from Buchanan county, was born in Boone county, Illinois, January 15, 1859. Came to Iowa forty-five years ago. Is a nephew of ex-Governor Boies and a brother of Congressman-elect W. D. Boies. Received his education in the rural and public schools of Sycamore, Illinois. Is a farmer owning eight hundred acres of land. Is a member and trustee of the Methodist church. A member of the Masonic lodge, the Eastern Star and Sons of the American Revolution. Was married to Clara I. Miller, January 26, 1880. Their family consisted of two daughters. His son, Corporal Burr B. Boies of the 88th division, went to France, and gave his life for his country October 13, 1918. Representative Boies was elected by the republican party in 1916, re-elected in 1918.

Representative from Buchanan county, was born on a farm in Boone county, Illinois, January 15, 1859. Is a son of the late W. D. Boies, Sr., who was a brother of ex-Governor Boies. Received his education in the rural schools and the public schools of Sycamore, Illinois. Is a farmer, owning eight hundred acres of land in Buchanan county. Has been a feeder and shipper of horses and cattle for the past twenty-five years. Is a member and trustee of the Methodist church of Independence, Iowa, and a member of the Masonic lodge, the Order of the Eastern Star and of the American Revolution. Was married to Clara I. Miller January 26, 1880. Their family consists of one son and two daughters. A republican in politics.
