Senator from forty-third district, was born at Galena, Ill., April 16, 1859. Educated in the public schools of Galena and Northwestern German English Normal school. Removed to Hancock county, Iowa, in 1879, where he has since resided. Taught school in Illinois and Hancock county, Iowa, for four years, and was admitted to the bar in 1884, and since that time has given his attention to the practice of law, and to banking. Was county attorney for four terms. Was married to Mary L. Prescott in 1888 and has two daughters, Lois and Charlotte. Was elected representative in 1916, and re-elected in 1918. Elected senator in 1920. A republican in politics.

He was educated in the public schools of the city Of Galena and in the Northwestern German-English Normal School, now known as Charles City College, Charles City, Iowa. He removed to Hancock county, Iowa, in 1879, where he has since resided. He taught school in Illinois and Hancock county for four years, and was admitted to the bar in 1884, and since that time has given his attention almost exclusively to the practice of law. Has served as county attorney of Hancock county for four terms, and held other local offices in his county and town. Was married to Mary L. Prescott in 1888, and has two daughters, Lois and Charlotte. Was elected to membership in the Thirty-seventh General Assembly in 1916. Has always been a republican in politics.
