Representative from Audubon county, Iowa, was born in Iowa county, Iowa, on September 23d, 1877. He comes from American ancestry, his father's people having come from Switzerland in 1754, and his mother's people from Ireland. With his parents he came to Audubon county in 1881. Attended the country schools, the Audubon High School and taught in the rural schools for about three years. He attended the Drake Law College at Des Moines, graduating therefrom in 1905. He began the practice of law at Audubon where he is a member of the firm of Mantz & White. He has held office as county attorney for four years, was mayor for five years, and chairman of the legal advisory board. Was married in 1910 to Miss Dorothy Sandberg of Oakland, Neb. They have two children, Paul S., aged 3, and Kathleen J., aged 1. A member of the Presbyterian church, and a Mason. Was elected in 1916. Re-elected in 1918. A republican in politics.

Representative from Audubon county, was born in Iowa county, Iowa, on September 23, 1877. His father was born in Pennsylvania and his mother in Ohio. At the age of five, he moved, with his parents, to Audubon county and has resided there since that time. Worked on a farm until of age and attended the country school and later attended the Audubon High School. Taught in the rural schools of Audubon county for three years and later attended the law school at Drake University and graduated with a class in 1905 and at once began the practice of law in Audubon. He served as county attorney of Audubon county for four years, beginning in 1909 and served as mayor of Audubon following his term as county attorney. Has been in the active practice of law in Audubon county since locating there. Is a member of the Presbyterian church and belongs to the Masonic Fraternity of Audubon. A republican in politics.
