Representative from Butler county, was born at Grand Forks, North Dakota, July 24, 1884. In the year 1900 he located at Shell Rock, which has since been his home. For several years he was engaged in newspaper work and later entered into mercantile pursuits, and has been in the lumber, coal and grain business since 1912. He was married to Laura Mansfield on June 10, 1908, and they are the parents of two sons, Mansfield, nineteen, a student at the State University of Iowa, and Richard, eleven years old. He is a member of the Knights of Pythias, A.F. & A.M., R.A.M., Commandery and Shrine. He has been a member of the Butler county Republican central committee for a number of years, and for the past two years has served as chairman of that body. He was elected as representative in 1930. A republican in politics.
