Senator from the forty-third district including Cerro Gordo, Franklin and Hancock counties. Commissioner of Insurance, in 1929 and 1931, was born at Villisca, Iowa, June 12, 1876. Has been a resident of Mason City, Iowa, practically all of his life. Attended the public school and graduated from the Mason City high school. Was engaged in the banking business for some twenty-five years. Served as clerk of the district court of Cerro Gordo county, Iowa, six years. Served as sergeant in Company "A" of the fifty-second Iowa Infantry of Volunteers. Served in the World war for twenty months with the commission of captain, both in this country and France. Is now engaged in the real estate loan business. Was elected to the Iowa senate at the general election, November 6, 1928. Appointed insurance commissioner by Governor Turner for four year term beginning July 1, 1931. Is a republican in politics. Was married April 29, 1903, to Emma H. Hanson, of Owatonna, Minnesota, now deceased.
