Senator from the fiftieth district, comprising Buena Vista, Humboldt, and Pocahontas counties, was born at Port Andrew, Richland county, Wisconsin, July 8, 1867, of Scotch-Irish parents. In 1884 he came to Alta, Iowa, and in the spring of 1894 bought his first farm and began farming for himself. On February 26, 1896, he was married to Anna Jackson of Sac county, Iowa, and they have four children, Florence V., instructor in the California State Teachers College, Chico, California; Robert C, an attorney at Storm Lake, Iowa; Wendell R., a graduate of Iowa State College; and Donald S., a graduate of Buena Vista College. He is a widely known, successful auctioneer of northwest Iowa. He is past master of Universal Lodge, 587, A. F. and A. M. Elected senator in 1930. A republican.

Senator from the fiftieth district, comprising Buena Vista, Humboldt and Pocahontas counties, was born at Port Andrew, Richland county, Wisconsin, July 8, 1867, of Scotch-Irish parents. His father came to America from the north of Ireland in 1860, enlisted in the army the first call for volunteers in the Sixty-seventh New York Infantry, and served till the close of the war, serving six months in Libby prison. His mother was a native of Scotland. Senator Ritchie came to Alta, Iowa, and worked on the farm as a hired man till the spring of 1894 when he bought his first farm, and began farming for himself. He was married February 26, 1896, to Anna Jackson. They have four grown children, one girl and three boys. Elected senator in 1930. A republican.
