Senator from the twentieth district, composed of Louisa and Muscatine counties, was born March 1, 1895, at Wapello, Iowa. Graduated from Drake University 1915, and from the University of Iowa Law College in 1917. A lawyer, World War veteran, and belongs to numerous societies and lodges. Elected to the senate in 1930. A republican.

Senator from the twentieth district, composed of Louisa and Muscatine counties, was born in Wapello, Iowa, March 1, 1895, where he has since resided. Son of Edwin Hicklin and Millicent (Richley) Hicklin, both of whom were natives of Louisa county, Iowa. Graduated from the Wapello high school in 1911, from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa, in 1915, with degree of A.B., and from the State University of Iowa law school in 1917. Served in World war, Company E, Second U.S. infantry. Practiced law in Wapello, Iowa, since 1919, was elected county attorney of Louisa county in 1922, and served two terms. Was elected member of the republican state central committee for the first congressional district in 1924, in which capacity he is still serving. Was secretary of the republican state central committee, 1926 to 1928. Married Irene Anderson in 1919, and has three sons, Edwin Anderson, Martin Dale, and Charles Willis. Is a member of the Masonic lodge, Lions club, and American Legion.
