Attended Cornell College; B.A., University of Iowa, 1952; J.D., University of Iowa, 1958. Attorney, Kudart & Holmes. Married Patricia Brown of Dysart, Iowa, 1954. Children: Kay and Tom. Served as officer, Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserve, 1952-60. Field staff of Congressman Fred Schwengel, 1957-58. Vice president, Young Republicans of Linn County, 1961; Rural Linn County Organizational chairman, 1962-63; City Linn County Organizational chairman, 1964. Author of book, Nc-w Republican Politics, 1972. Member: Westminster Presbyterian Church, Linn County and Iowa Bar Associations, Iowa and American Trial Lawyers Associations, American Legion Post #309. First term in Senate.
