Representative from Clinton county, was born near Goose Lake, Clinton county, Iowa, February 6, 1870, the son of Herman and Cathrina Thiessen. He was educated in the local schools and has been engaged in farming all his life. He bought a farm in Camanche township in 1898, where he still resides. He was married on February 19, 1896, to Annie Eggert and has three daughters: Vandelena, Romona, and Adaline. He has been director and secretary of the Camanche township schools for fourteen years and treasurer and secretary of the Low Moor Farmers Mutual Telephone company ten years. He is president of the Farmers Equity Shipping association of Low Moor; a member and director of the English Lutheran church, member of the I.O.O.F., a thirty-second degree Mason and a member of the Eastern Star. Elected representative in 1930 and re-elected in 1932 and 1934. A democrat.
