Senator from the twenty-third district, Jackson county, was born at Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, the daughter of the late Thomas Franklin Campbell and Harriett Emily Dutton. Her professional record of twenty years' teaching includes seven years as county superintendent of schools of Henry county and the teaching of methods in summer school sessions at Iowa Wesleyan college. She is the wife of W. J. Pendray, a merchant of Maquoketa, to whom she was married in 1920. An active worker in the democratic party, for years a member of the state central committee serving as chairwoman in the second congressional district. A member of the Congregational church, P.E.O. society, Outlook study club, B. & P.W. league. She served as representative in forty-third and forty-fourth, and as senator in forty-fifth, forty-fifth extra, and forty-sixth general assemblies. First woman to be elected to the Iowa legislature. A democrat.

Representative from Jackson county, first woman to serve in the Iowa general assembly, was born at Mt. Pleasant, Henry county, Iowa, in 1881. Was educated in the public schools of Mt. Pleasant, graduating from the high school in 1899. Her professional record includes twenty years in educational work including seven years as county superintendent of schools of Henry county, Iowa. Was married to William James Pendray, of Mt. Pleasant and Oskaloosa, in 1920. An active democratic party worker, having served in the capacities of county chairwoman for Jackson county and member of the state central committee as chairwoman for the second congressional district. Since 1923 her home has been in Maquoketa, Jackson county, where she is a member of the Congregational church, P.E. O. and D.A.R. societies, and interested in other activities.
