Senator from forty-fifth district, composed of Benton and Tama counties, was born on December 17, 1877, on a farm near Blairstown, Iowa. Attended Northern Indiana normal school for three years at Valparaiso, Indiana. Married Gertrude Helen Giesecke of St. Louis in 1913 and has two sons, John, 22, attended Iowa State College; Henry 19, a sophomore at Iowa State College; and twin daughters, Marie and Emma, 16, Juniors in Blairstown high school. Has engaged in farming since 1900, and became a master farmer in 1930. Elected to the senate in 1934. A democrat.
