Senator from the forty-second district, composed of Howard and Winneshiek counties, was born November 14, 1879, in Sheboygan county, Random Lake, Wisconsin, of German parentage. At the age of thirteen years moved to Mower county, Minnesota, with parents. Married to Hannah Bush of Mower county, Minnesota, and they reared a family of eight children, six girls and two boys. Moved to Winneshiek county, Iowa, in 1924, to the city of Decorah, Iowa, and resided there since. Main occupation has been farming and real estate business and some years in the general mercantile business. Was elected to the senate in 1934. A democrat.
