Senator from the thirty-fourth district, comprising Crawford, Monona, and Harrison counties, was born in. Aspinwall, Crawford county, Iowa, December 7, 1886. Reared on a farm in the same county, he attended Denison normal college, from which he was graduated in 1909. Later he attended the State University of Iowa and Drake University in Des Moines, being graduated from the law department of Drake University in 1912. He was elected county attorney of Crawford county the same year of his graduation from law, and held that office for twenty years, retiring there from to become a candidate for state senator. During his twenty years acting as county attorney, he was also actively engaged in the general practice of law in Denison. He is still engaged in the practice of law in Denison under the firm name of Bell and Level. He was married to Miss Clara Curry of Denison February 12, 1929. They have one son, Robert Andrew. Elected to the senate in 1934. Served in the forty-sixth, forty-sixth extra and forty-seventh general assemblies. A democrat.
