Clarksville Republican 39th Senatorial District Bremer and Butler Counties. Born in Adair county, November 28, 1868. His early education was obtained in the public schools, and the high school in Harlan, Iowa. He taught for a short time in the country schools, then took a college course and became superintendent of schools in Fontanelle, Iowa. Resigned this position to enter Northwestern Medical School, where he finished in 1904. Married to Rachel Corrough of Malcolm, Iowa, and has two daughters: Louise, a librarian in Toledo, Ohio; and Marian Elizabeth (Mrs. Arthur) Oliphant of Des Moines. He is a Mason and Odd Fellow and a member of the Presbyterian church. Elected representative from Butler county in 1934 and senator in 1936.
