Member American Legion and past commander of his local post. Sioux county attorney from 1925 to 1937; past president of the County Attorneys' Association of Iowa. President Alton board of education; member of the First Presbyterian church; member of Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity. Engaged in the practice of law at Alton. Elected to the state senate in 1936. President pro-tempore of senate in the 48th general assembly.
