Graduated from the college of liberal arts at the State University of Iowa in 1916 and from the college of law in 1920. Served with the A.E.F during the World war. Has practiced law at Centerville Iowa, since the fall of 1920. Married in 1926 to Marguerite Naumann of Davenport; father of two daughters, Kathryn and Marguerite. Was county attorney of Appanoose county from 1932 to 1936. Elected to the senate in 1936.
