Democrat 23rd Senatorial District Jackson County. Born on a farm in Jackson county, Iowa, March 12, 1879, son of Hon. J. W. and Mary Forbes Ellis. His wife was Alice B. Lynch, also of Jackson county; father of three living children, Lydia Marie, now Mrs. L. R. Maxwell of Washington, D.C., John C., an accountant of Seattle, Washington, and Francis V., an attorney at Manchester, Iowa. Taught in the public schools for two years; has been active in the insurance and real estate business. His greatest effort has been the collecting and maintaining the Frank Ellis Museum of archeology and anthropology at Maquoketa, housed in a beautiful fireproof building which he erected in 1930. This museum is free to school children. He has been active in conservation, archeology and natural history. Elected to the senate in 1936.

Lynch also of Jackson county and he has three living children, Lydia Marie, now Mrs. Dr. L. R. Maxwell of Washington, D.C, John C. an accountant of Seattle, Washington, and Francis V., an attorney at Manchester, Iowa.
