Tingley Republican 5th Senatorial District Decatur, Ringgold and Union Counties. Born on a farm near Greenfield, Illinois, October 25, 1869, son of Lorenzo and Tabitha Edwards. Grew to manhood and graduated from high school at Greenfield. Attended Illinois Wesleyan University. Engaged in a furniture and undertaking business in Greenfield. In 1897 was married to Mayme Benson of Memphis, Missouri. Farmed until 1902, at which time he located in Tingley, Iowa, re-entered the furniture and undertaking business and is now engaged in undertaking. Was postmaster at Tingley for 32 years. Has held no other political office until elected as senator in 1936.

Senator from the fifth district, composed of Ringgold, Union, and Decatur counties, was born on a farm near Greenfield, Illinois, October 25, 1869, the son of Lorenzo and Tabitha Edwards, where he grew to manhood and graduated from the Greenfield high school. He attended Illinois Wesleyan University. Engaged in the furniture and undertaking business in Greenfield. In 1897 was married to Mayme Benson of Memphis, Missouri. Farmed until 1902, at which time he located in Tingley, Iowa, and re-entered the furniture and undertaking business and is now engaged in undertaking at that place. During this thirty-two years' time, he was postmaster at Tingley. Has held no other political office until elected as senator in 1936. A republican.
