Second lieutenant, company K, fourth regiment, U.S. national guard of Iowa, organized in 1918. Served as clerk of the district court and a member of the board of supervisors of Jefferson county. Was elected and served as secretary of the Jefferson county fair, and director and vice president of the southeastern Iowa horticultural society. Engaged in farming and fruit growing. County chairman republican central committee since 1922. Was elected for second term on the republican state central committee. Serving first term in the legislature. A republican.
