Married to Nora Nelson of Belmond, Iowa, in 1927; has two sons, James Owen and William Roger. Served twelve years as mayor of Kanawha; five years chairman of the Hancock county welfare board. Served as a member of House of Representatives in the 46th, 46th extra, 47th and 48th general assemblies; and served as a member of the Senate in the 49th and 50th general assemblies.
