Marshalltown Republican 28th Senatorial District Marshall County. Born at Larchwood, Iowa, November 24, 1894. Educated in Larchwood public school, State University of Iowa, B.A., 1920; LL.B., 1923. Entered the practice of law at Marshalltown, 1923. Married in 1928 to Velda M. Fox of Cedar Rapids. Has two daughters, Dorothy Ellen and Romaine Adel. Commissioned 2nd Lt. August, 1917, at first Officers' Training Camp, Fort Snelling, Minn. 4 Served overseas 1 months. Reserve officer since 1927. Called to duty in World War II, March 2, 1942, as captain. Served at Reception Center, Fort Snelling, Minn. Promoted to rank of major, April, 1943. Placed on inactive duty, June, 1944. City solicitor, Marshalltown, 1927-1933. Member of American Legion, Masons, Congregational church, Rotary International, Delta Theta Phi, Marshall County, Iowa State and American Bar associations, Board of Directors of Marshall County Red Cross and Marshalltown Community Chest. Elected January, 1944, to fill vacancy caused by death of Senator B. C. Whitehill.
