Served as county commissioner of Stanley and Armstrong counties in South Dakota and member of Board of Supervisors in Appanoose county, Iowa. Member and President of the Granfield school district in Stanley county, South Dakota, and long time President of the Washington township school district in Appanoose county. Was nominated by a write-in vote for the Iowa State Senate in the primary of 1948.
