Corydon Republican 4th Senatorial District Lucas and Wayne Counties. Born on a farm near Moravia, Iowa, August 21, 1905, the son of T. J. and Mattie B. Fletcher. Educated in the rural schools of Appanoose county. Graduate of the Moravia high school. Attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls. Married in August 1931 to Verona V. Hanzlik of Cedar Falls. Father of one daughter, Sara Anne, age 14. Taught in the public high schools of Iowa from 1928 to 1934. Owned and operated a retail hardware and auto supplies store in Corydon, Iowa, from July 1934 to December 1946. Served four years as Wayne county treasurer. A Protestant and member of the I. O. O. F. Serving first term in the Senate.
