Yarmouth Des Moines County Republican Born in Des Moines County, Iowa, March 21, 1889, one of twin sons of George and Minnie Smith Oberman. The twin brother passed away in 1940. Educated in the schools of Des Moines county, and Central University of Pella, Iowa. Married to Ora Westfall of Yarmouth, Iowa, in 1912, and the father of three sons: Jack of Yarmouth, James of Newton, and the oldest son, Plon, is deceased. Principal occupation has been farming, but has been engaged in numerous community activities. Served on the Yarmouth consolidated school board for eighteen years, on the county board of supervisors for twelve years, president of the Fifth District county officials for four years, and president of the state association of Boards of Supervisors. Member of the Farm Bureau, A.F. & A.M., Kaaba Shrine and Elks. Serving second term.
