Corning Republican Sixth Senatorial District Adams and Taylor Counties. Born March 24, 1900, in Corning, Iowa. Son of Austin B. and Ella S. Turner. Educated in the Corning public schools, Kiski prep school and Grinnell College, from which he received B.A. degree in 1921. Married in 1924 to La Nor Holmes of Keota, Iowa. Has two children, Sarah Turner of Denver, Colorado, and Austin B. Turner III of Corning. Merchant and farm manager in Corning since 1921. Member of the Corning public school board for 18 years and of the Corning municipal utilities board for 20 years. Adams county U.S. Savings Bond chairman from 1942 to present. President of the Adams county Weather Modification Association. Also a member of the Presbyterian church, American Legion and Rotary International. Elected to the Iowa Senate in 1956.
