Born January 12, 1785, in Sussex, New Jersey, to Casper Hendershott and Charity Ann Dills. On June 10, 1809, he married Catherine Benham in Miami, Ohio. In 1816, the couple moved to Madison County, Illinois Territory. The couple eventually moved to Iowa Territory. Mr. Hendershott served as the Mayor of Burlington, Iowa, in 1839, and later represented Des Moines County in the House of Representatives of the Third Legislative Assembly of the Iowa Territory from 1840 to 1841. He died August 23, 1859, in Pleasant Grove, Des Moines County, Iowa.
