Served in Army Air Force as bombardier in the European theatre. Owner and operator of two Keokuk restaurants. Past president of Junior Chamber of Commerce, trustee of Keokuk Water Works Commission, member of American Legion, Elks, Moose, Eagles, Knights of Pythias, Kiwanis, Izaak Walton, Masons, Kaaba Temple of the Shrine, and the Keokuk Fez Club. Member of the Westminster United Presbyterian church. Married Louise Gottsschalg of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Father of one son, Frederick, age 14. Served in 58th General Assembly.
