Boone Republican 31st (Old) Senatorial District Boone, Story and (for 60th G.A.) Greene Counties. Born on farm at Beaver, Iowa, Jan. 22, 1905. Son of Lester G. and Clara E. Doran, a pioneer Boone County family. Educated in public schools. Graduate of Drake Law School, 1931, LL.B. degree, Order of Coif. General practice of law, Boone, Iowa. Married Gwendolyn Williams, April 18, 1937. One daughter: Lynne Marie, student at University of Colorado. Protestant. Member of local, Iowa, and American Bar Associations, Masonic Lodge, White Shrine, Eastern Star, Lions Club (past president), Elks Lodge, Farm Bureau, director of Boone Community School District 14 years, past president of board, Chamber of Commerce, past president Drake Law School Alumni Association, director of Boone Industrial Development Coop., farm owner, and chairman of board of Boone State Bank & Trust Co. Elected to senate 1962.
